Man could not accept that a person is born of God by believing on Christ after the gospel is preached to them so they substituted their own version of the gospel whereby a person is saved by a prayer (See THE SINNER'S PRAYER & PLAN OF SALVATION on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). He wrote, "A little leaven leavens the whole lump (Gal 5.9)." Christ says - "Take heed and beware of the leaven (doctrine) of the Pharisees and the Sudducees." (Mt 16.6 & 12). "Preach the gospel (Mk 16.15)." not present a 'plan of salvation.' The following passages of scripture show that a person is saved by believing on and in Christ after the gospel is preached to them:

  1. He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned." Mark 16.15-16

  2. "As many as received Him gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." John 1.12

  3. "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3.14 -15

  4. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3.16

  5. "He that believes on the Son has everlasting life… " John 3.36

  6. "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6.40

  7. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believes on me has everlasting life." John 6.47

  8. "He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive.)." John 7.38-39a

  9. "… if you believe not that I am he you shall die in your sins." John 8.24b

  10. "As he spoke these words, many believed on him. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed." John 8.30

  11. "And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped Him." John 9.35-38

  12. "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: He that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" John 11.25-26

  13. "She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." John 11.27

  14. "These are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through his name." John 20.31

  15. "And all that believed were together, and had all things common." Acts 2.44

  16. "Many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand." Acts 4.4

  17. "And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women." Acts 5.14

  18. "When they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the Kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip." Acts 8.12-13

  19. "The eunuch said, See, here is water; what hinders me from being baptized: And Philip said, if you believe with all your heart you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him." Acts 8.36-38

  20. "…whosoever believes in Him shall receive remission of sins." Acts 10.43b

  21. "Because God gave them the same gift he gave us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?" Acts 11.17

  22. "And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned to the Lord." Acts 11.21

  23. "Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord." Acts 13.12

  24. "All who believe are justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses." Acts 13.39

  25. "Sirs, what must I do to be saved! And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved, and your house." Acts 16.31

  26. "Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized." Acts 18.8

  27. "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1.16

  28. "But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all them who believe." Romans 3.21-22

  29. "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness; But to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Romans 4.3&5

  30. "If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved." Romans 10.9

  31. "How shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" Romans 10.14-15

  32. "After that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." 1 Corinthians 1.21& 23

  33. "Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed?" 1 Cor 3.5

  34. "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures…Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so you believed." 1 Cor 15.3-4 & 11

  35. "…believe on Him to everlasting life." 1Timothy 1.16b

  36. "Be an example of the believers." 1Timothy 4.12

  37. "But the scripture has concluded all under sin that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe." Galatians 3.22

  38. "After you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise." Ephesians 1.13

  39. "For by grace are you saved, through faith (belief); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Eph 2.8

  40. "We who have believed do enter into rest." Hebrews 4.3a

  41. "We are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul." Heb 10.39

  42. "He that believes on him shall not be confounded; To you therefore which believe he is precious:" 1 Pet 2.6b-7a

  43. "This is His commandment that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another." 1 John 3.23

  44. "Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God." 1 John 5.1a

  45. "Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5.5

  46. "He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself: He that believes not God hath made him a liar; because he believes not the record that God gave of his Son." 1 John 5.10

  47. "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5.13
