Christ has ordained us to go and bring forth fruit (Jn 15.16). To do this we must abide in him, but many are falling by the wayside because they aren't abiding in Christ.
We are taught that for a person to grow they must read their bible, attend church (fellowship) and pray. But the most important part is being left off because the church has replaced the gospel with their plan of salvation. That part is to witness. We bear fruit by telling the good news to others (preaching the gospel) and teaching them that believe to preach it.
The apostle Paul exhorts us to put on the full armor of God so that we may stand against the wiles of the devil. Every part is essential, but let me focus on a part that is not being put on. We are to shod our feet with the gospel of peace. This means that we are to preach the gospel as we go, or as Christ commands - "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15)." But churches are not equipping us to do this. They have replaced the gospel with their 'plan of salvation' that can't be preached except from a pulpit. Imagine going into combat without proper footwear. This is exactly what is happening with christians today and as a result they are suffering defeat (See THE BIG LIE on www.preach-the-gospel.org.).
The gospel, according to the scriptures, is - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose again the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." We must tell this to others in person with our mouth (preach it) for them to believe on Christ and be saved (Jn 6.47 & 1 Cor 1.21b). Confessing Christ to others not only allows them to be saved, but it strengthens our walk with Christ. We abide in him. Remember: "Whoever confesses me before men, I will confess before my Father which is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I will also deny before my Father in heaven (Mt 10.32). "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God has raisied him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Rom 10.9)."
To bring forth fruit we must abide in Christ. We must put on the full armor of Christ, to include shodding our feet with the gospel of peace. Let's go forth and preach the gospel, teaching them that believe to preach it as well (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20). Abide in Him (Jn 15.16).
