But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he has prepared for them a city.

In my travels everyone wants to know what country I'm from so they can make comparisons and stereotypes. They all think that their country is the best. But I have news! The best country is heaven!

Christ says, “Unless a man is born again he cannot see the kingdom of heaven (John 3.3).” and “You must be born again (John 3.7).” Anybody can be a citizen of heaven, but we must be born into it (1 Jn 5.1).

The instant a person believes on Christ after they are told the good news (gospel) they are born of God into his kingdom (or country). Christ commands every believer to - “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk. 16.15).” and to teach them that believe to observe his command to preach it (Mt.28.20).” so that many can become a citizen of his country.

Being born of God is a mystery. It can not be explained scientifically because it is supernatural. Nevertheless, it does occur and when it does we become a citizen of a better country (heaven). Christ taught us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done here on earth as it is in heaven (Mt 6.10).” His kingdom (or family) increases here on earth only to the extent that we preach the gospel.

To preach the gospel simply ask another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.) and tell them - “Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Corinthians 15.3-4).” The instant they believe with their heart God becomes their Father and they are born into his country. Then we can teach them to seek God's kingdom (country) and his righteousness (Matthew 6.33) by preaching the gospel.

We who have been born into God's country should preach the gospel and teach others to do it so his kingdom will come and his will be done here on earth as it is in heaven (Mt 6.10).
