ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN?

The Strongs Concordance defines Christian as - a follower of Christ. The name is mentioned only three times in the bible (Acts 11.26 & 26.28 and 1 Pet 4.16) and its synonym, Believer, only twice (Acts 5.14 & 1 Tim 4.12). But it is through believing on Christ that a person gains eternal life (Jn 3.36 & 6.47), therefore I prefer the name Believer to describe a follower of Christ.

Regardless of the name we go by we are what we are and our actions determine who we are. Paul wrote, "By the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all; yet not I but the grace of God which was with me (1 Cor 15.10b)." Paul preached the gospel to his whole known world during his lifetime. He proved that he was a follower of Christ by his actions.

Christ commands to all believers still stand - "Go into the entire world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15).", "Teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you (Mt 28.20)." To preach the gospel simply ask another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.) and tell them - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15. 1-4)."

This gospel that the Apostle Paul himself received and preached (1 Cor 15.3-4) gets the same results as it did in his time when we receive it and preach it. He wrote, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to every one that believes...(Rom 1.16)." "I have begotten you through the gospel (1 Cor 4.15)."

Are we declaring the gospel to others that they might believe on Christ and be saved (Jn 6.47 & Acts 16.31), then teaching them that believe to preach the gospel as well so that the gospel seed multiplies (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20)? Our actions reveal what we are (1 Jn 4.1-3). Are you a Christian?
