Recently I talked with a concessionaire in the Travis AFB Base Exchange (BX) about preaching the gospel, thinking I had already told her the good news and that she had received it (John 1.12). She told me that if I didn't leave immediately she would call security.
She trampled my pearls under her feet and turned again and rendered me just as Christ says (Matthew 7.6). It really took the wind out of my sails and this is exactly why He warns us not to cast our pearls before swine neither give that which is holy to the dogs.
We should never talk of spiritual matters (the bible) to others until after we have preached the gospel to them. For it is foolishness to them and indeed they cannot receive it because it is spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2.14). But speaking the gospel to another puts their heart on the spot and saves them (See SAVED on www.preach-the-gospel.org for a definition of 'saved') the instant they believe on Christ (Rom 1.16, 1 Cor 4.15, Eph 6.19 and 1 Jn 5.1).
Christ's two most important commands for every believer are 1) Preach the gospel (Mk 16.15) and (2) Teach them that believe to preach it (MK 16.15) (See The Great Commission on www.preach-the-gospel.org): for the gospel saves every one that believes on Christ (Jn 6.47, Acts 16.31). We multiply the gospel seed by teaching them that believe to preach it (Read Luke 8.5-15 and TEACH THEM on www.preach-the-gospel.org).
To preach the gospel simply ask another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.) and tell them - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose from the grave on the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." Most people receive it on the spot and are instantly born of God (Jn 1.12b & 1 Jn 5.1). Then we can talk to them about spiritual matters and most importantly teach them to preach the gospel as well (See TEACH THEM and BE FRUITFUL on www.preach-the-gospel.org).
Let's not give that which is holy to to the dogs neither cast pearls before swine (the unsaved) before we preach the gospel to them lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend us (Mt 7.6).
