The above verse goes on to say, "If any man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed (Jas 1.23-25)."
We must preach the gospel to every person on the face of the earth (Mk 16.15). Then the end will come and Christ will return and take us to be with him forever (Mt 24.14 & 30-31 and 1 Thes 4.13-18). This is the work. We also turn the world right-side up by preaching the gospel and teaching them that believe how to preach it (Mt 28.30) (SeeIMAGINE on www.preach-the-gospel.org.).
The gospel, according to the scriptures, "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." is easily preached to another after asking them, "Did you hear the good news?" (Gospel means good news.). Preaching the gospel to another in person with our mouth (Eph 6.19 & Col 4.3-4) allows them to believe on Christ and be saved (See 47 PASSAGES ON BELIEF and SAVED on www.preach-the-gospel.org for a definition of 'saved'.). Then we can teach them how to preach the gospel, thereby multiplying the seed.
Contrary to popular belief It only takes two or three people preaching the gospel and teaching them that believe to preach it to make up a strong church (See TWO OR THREE and A FEW GOOD MEN on www.preach-the-gospel.org). So-called churches are not preaching the gospel in person with their mouths outside of their building. This is because they have substituted their 'plan of salvation', which can only be preached from a pulpit, for the gospel, (See PLAN OF SALVATION on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). Therefore the gospel is not being preached as it ought to be. We have become hearers only, deceiving ourselves instead of doers of the word.
We must preach the gospel to every person (Mk 16.15) in every nation (Mt 24.14) in person with our mouths (Eph 6.19-20 & Col 4.3-4) before the end will come. Then Christ will return and take us to be with him forever (Mt 24.14 & 30-31 and 1 Thes 4.13-18). Let's be doers of the work, not hearers only, deceiving ourselves (Jas 1.22-25).
