I am happy to hear you have preached the gospel to your boys. But may I please clarify something.
It's not my way of preaching the gospel. I copied it from the Apostle Paul as he received it and preached it to the Corinthians. Paul clearly defined the gospel he preached: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand... I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Cor 15.1-4)." He wrote, "Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed (Gal 1.8-9)."
The 'plan of salvation' the evangelical movement has devised can only be preached from the pulpit, therefore it can't be duplicated (See PLAN OF SALVATION on www.preach-the-gospel.org). As a result we resort to passing out bible tracts and are frustrated by the lack of results we get (like with you and the boys). Imagine if every one who went forward at a Billy Graham crusade went out and preached the gospel and taught them that believed to preach it (See TWO OR THREE on ww.preach-the-gospel.org). Christ's command to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15)." would be fulfilled and he would have returned and taken us to be with him for ever (Mt 24.14 & 30-31 & 1 Thes 4.13-18).
You are above average in intelligence and are able to present things to the boys in a way that most can not. Even so, it must go beyond the mind and intellect and to the heart. The gospel saves another when we tell it to them in person with our mouth (Eph 6.19). The Apostle Paul wrote, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes (Rom 1.16)." and "...I have begotten you through the gospel (1 Cor 4.15b)."
Please break away from the 'plan of salvation' and started preaching the simple gospel and teaching them that believe to preach it, Mt 18.20). God bless.
