Are we preaching the gospel to others and teaching them to preach the gospel (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20)? If so we are gathering with Him, but if not we are scattering abroad (Mt 12.30).
Preaching the gospel is a misunderstood concept even to those who have earned seminary degrees because the 'plan of salvation' has taken the place of the gospel (See PLAN OF SALVATION and THE SINNER'S PRAYER on www.preach-the-gospel.org). Would you agree that to preach the gospel we must first know what it is? Surprisingly enough, Christians do not know what the gospel is, even though it is clearly defined by the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthian believers.
The gospel that Paul received and preached is - “Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (Read 1 Cor 15.1-4).”
Christ's command to every believer is - "Preach the gospel (Mk 16.15)," not present the 'plan of salvation'. When it has been preached to every person in all the world the end will come and Christ will return for his church to take us to be with him forever (Mt 24.14 & 31, and 1 Thes 4.13-18). Sadly, it is not being preached as it ought to be. Therefore the world continues to lie in wickedness and Christ's return is being hindered (1 Jn 5.19, Mt 24.14). Our job is to bring it out of it's wickedness by preaching the same gospel message that Paul preached. By teaching other believers to preach the gospel as well we speed the return of Christ.
In the winter of 2010 a freeze in Florida killed millions of oranges. It was a shame to see them hanging dead on the trees; They could not be harvested in time to save them. It's the same way with today's harvest of souls. Man's 'plan of salvation' has corrupted the gospel message so that the harvest can't be reaped. Souls lie dead in their trespasses and sin. Christ says - "The fields are white and ready to harvest and they that reap recieve wages and gather fruit unto life eternal (Jn 4.35-36)." Now that we know what the gospel is and how to preach it will you help gather the harvest?
Ask others if they have heard the good news or announce "good news" (Gospel means good news.) and tell them - “Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4).” Then teach them that believe to preach the gospel as well. Remember, if we aren't gathering with Him (preaching the gospel) we are scattering abroad (See THE GOSPEL SAVES on www.preach-the-gospel.org.)
