The leaven Christ is speaking about is their doctrine (Mt 16.12). I went to church for thirty years and was never taught what the gospel is nor how to preach it. Another gospel has replaced the true gospel, thus leavening the whole lump (Gal 1.8-9 & 5.9).
Man's 'plan of salvation' has replaced the gospel of Christ. According to it we must lead another to Christ by showing them that they are a sinner and having them say a 'prayer of salvation' rather than simply preach the gospel to them as Christ commands (Mk 16.15). The 'plan of salvation' can only be preached from the pulpit (See PLAN OF SALVATION on www.preach-the-gospel.org) which limits laymen to passing out bible tracts and inviting others to church, but Christ's command is - "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15).
We win others to Christ by preaching the gospel to them in person with our mouth (Eph 6.19-20) not by passing out bible tracts containing the church's 'plan of salvation'. "For It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching (the gospel) to save them that believe (1 Cor 1.21, Mk 16.15 & Rom 10.14)." The gospel saves others the instant they believe on Christ after we preached it to them (Rom 1.16). The Apostle Paul wrote: "I have begotten you through the gospel (1 Cor 4.15)." (See 47 PASSAGES ON BELIEF that show a person is saved by believing on Christ and SAVED for a definition of 'saved' on www.preach-the-gospel.org .).
Christ's says - "Teach them to observe all things I have commanded you (Mt 28.20)." Has he not commanded us to preach the gospel? Surely "A little leaven has leavened the whole lump." Teaching others to preach the gospel furthers it exponentially (See DO THE MATH and TWO OR THREE on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). When it has been preached to every person in every nation the end will come and Christ will return and take us to be with him forever (Mk 16.15, Mt 24.14 & 30-31 and 1 Thes 4.13-18). Meanwhile we turn the world right-side up (See TURN THE WORLD RIGHT SIDE UP on www.preach-the-gospel.org.).
The gospel according to the scriptures - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (Read 1 Cor 15.1-4)." is easily preached by first asking another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.). This gospel that the Apostle Paul himself received and preached (v 3-4) saves every one that believes when we preach it to them in person with our mouth as Paul did (Rom 1.16 & Eph 6.19-20).
Christ did not say present a 'plan of salvation'. He commands us to preach the gospel (Mk 16.15). Because we have not taken heed to His warning (Mt 16.6) a little leaven has leavened the whole lump (Gal 5.9).
