THE MEAT THAT ENDURES

Labour not for the meat which perishes, but for that meat which endures unto everlasting life... (Jn 6.27)

When we preach the gospel we "Labour for that meat which endures to everlasting life, which Christ will give us (Jn 6.27b)..."

Why spend all our time labouring for the meat that perishes instead of preaching the gospel? Christ has ordained us that we should go and bring forth fruit (Jn 15.16). by going into all the world and preaching the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15). There are seven billion people who must have the gospel (good news) preached to them before the end comes and Christ returns to take us to be with him forever (Mt 24.14 & 30-31 and 1 Thes 4.13-18) and He promises wages to them that reap in His harvest (Jn 4.36). They which preach the gospel should live of the gospel (1 Cor 9.14), for "The labourer is worthy of his hire (Lk 10.7)."

The gospel according to the scriptures - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.1-4)." is easily preached to another after asking them, "Did you heard the good news? It allows another to believe on Christ and be born of God (1 Cor 1,21 & 4.15b and 1 Jn 5.1). God's plan of salvation is simple, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Jn 6.47, Acts 16.31)." and "It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching (the gospel) to save them that believe (1 Cor 1.21b)." Preaching the gospel is laboring for the meat which endures to life everlasting. When Christ sent out the seventy without purse, scrip and shoes, did they lack anything (Lk 22.35)? Nothing! When we seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness (by preaching the gospel) all these things are simply added to us (Mt 6.33) and in so doing we find life more abundantly (Jn 10.10). Its putting the horse before the cart; but when we put mammon (money) first we drown ourselves in trouble and sorrow (1 Tim 6.9-10) (See THE MONEY GOD on www.preach-the-gospel.org.).

Don't swallow the lie that we must complete seminary or bible school to preach the gospel. To preach from a pulpit this may be true, but the gospel is supposed to be preached in the world, not a building (Mk 16.15). The evangelical church has substituted their 'plan of salvation' which can only be preached from the pulpit BIG LIE. According to the 'plan of salvation' we must admit to God that we are a sinner, ask His forgiveness and ask Christ to come into our heart to be saved. The scriptures used to support this are taken totally out of context and misinterpreted (See THE SINNER'S PRAYER on www preach-the-gospel.org.).

The rich young ruler asked Christ what he must do to inherit eternal life (Mt 19.16-29)? Christ told him to sell all that he had, give it to the poor and take up his cross and follow Him. He went away sad, for he had many possessions (21-22). His possessions were his life and he wouldn't lose his life for Christ and the gospel. Therefore he lost his life (Mk 8.35). Unless we forsake all that we have we cannot be His disciple (Lk 14.33). Maybe this is the biggest stumbling block of all, but it must be overcome if we are to labour for the meat that endures to everlasting life. Peter said to Christ, "Behold, we have left all and followed thee (Mt 19.27) and Christ responded - "Everyone that has forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my sake, and the gospels, shall receive an hundrefold in this life, and shall inherit everlasting life (Mt 19.29,Mk 10.29)." It doesn't take a college degree, only a willingness to follow Christ whole heartedly and preach the gospel.

Laboring for the meat which endures to everlasting life today (Lk 6.27b). Ask another if they have heard the good news and tell them - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day. Then teach them to preach the gospel as well. Labour for the meat that endures!
