"... You cannot serve God and mammon (Mt 6.24)."

It has become apparent to me that people are serving one of two god's. The greater majority of people serve the money god, including so-called christians (See ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? on

In our daily lives what controls what we do the majority of the time. Is it not money if our allegiance is to paying bills or saving money for retirement or for any other financial matter? When we put money first in our life it is our god. Money is a hard god to serve. ''... While some have coveted after it they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows (1 Tim 6.10)." Paul told Timothy, "They that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition (1 Tim 6.9)."

Christ promises wages to them that reap in his harvest (Jn 4.35-36). He says, "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to us (Mt 6.33)." The way we seek the kingdom of God is by preaching the gospel or telling the good news (Gospel means good news.). For "It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe (1 Cor 1.21). Preaching means to tell another in person with our mouth (Eph 6.19-20 & Col 4.3-4). Therefore Christ commands us to - "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15)."

The problem is that we don't know what the gospel is nor how to preach it because we have swallowed the lie that we must lead another to Christ instead of simply preaching the gospel to them (See THE BIG LIE on This little leaven has leavened the whole lump (Mt 16.6 & 12 and Gal 5.9) so that the gospel is no longer being preached as it ought to be. This brings us back around to the main topic of money. What other choice is there if we don't know what the gospel is or how to preach it? It leaves the money god. But let's serve God by preaching the gospel and teaching them that believe to preach it (Mk 16.15. & Mt 28.20).

The gospel according to the scriptures - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose again the third day (1 Cor 15.1-4) is easily preached to another after asking them if they have heard the good news. This gospel that the apostle Paul himself received and preached (v 3-4) saves every one that believes (Rom 1.16). Then we can teach them that believe to preach the gospel as well. The kingdom of God increases every time somebody believes on Christ after we preach the gospel to them. It is multiplied even further when we teach them that believe to preach it (Mt 28.20).

Let's forsake the money god and start serving God by preaching the gospel and teaching others to preach it. He will supply all our needs when we seek first his kingdom (Jn 4.35-36, Mt 6.33, Lk 12.31 & Phil 4.19).
