Yesterday as we went to WalMart Shopping Center to retrieve my credit card (I forgot it at the cash register earlier.) I noticed the same thing I have been seeing for years. It's something I take for granted, but it is truly an amazing miracle. It's referred to as the new birth. I actually see this occur almost every time I preach the gospel to another. I tried to explain it to Wipha last night. Let me try to explain it to you.
I tell the gospel to almost every person I cross paths with (See THREE FOOT RULE on www.preach-the-gospel.org) and in so doing I see this mystery occur. Last night it was at WalMart. Starting off with a lady in customer service, I noticed the wall between us. I told her the good news and immediately I saw the change. The wall came down and the holy Spirit fell on her. That instant she was born again. When this occured I had a new sister in Christ and was able to fellowship with her whereas before there was no fellowship (See FAMILYSHIP on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). She came alive! This is the power of the gospel (Rom 1.16). Later as we were shopping I saw her walking in front of another WalMart employee and could still see that she was alive and vibrant with the love, joy and peace of the holy Ghost (Gal 5.22).
She asked us to stand aside and wait for another to bring our credit card so I asked a couple also waiting for something if they have heard the good news and told them, "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." "That's the rest of the story. Tell others." Immediately I saw the holy Spirit fall on them and I enjoyed fellowhip with them for five or ten minutes, talking with them like I knew them my whole life. When they left they thanked me and told me to keep telling the good news. I gave them a good news card and encouraged them to do the same.
Then I saw a young black man carrying a bike and folding skateboard for his son. This was my chance to tell him and the rest of the people standing in darkness the gospel. He got it and once again, I was brought into fellowship with him after he believed on Christ and was born again. I talked with him as a beloved brother, which he now was. If only I could encourage those who believe to preach the gospel and to teach them that they preach it so many others might be brought into fellowship with us and God (1 Jn 1 3-4)! Even if I don't it still is an amazing mystery because now that person is salt and light and will walk in love. Most know that something occurred in their life. They can feel the change, but they don't know how to use the gift God has given them to further His kingdom (family). That's why I give them a good news card with my one-page papers and encouage them to tell the good news to others (Mt 28.20).
The sad part is that most don't tell the good news to others for one reason or the other and when I see them again the light within them is not shining as brightly. They are still part of God's family and He will never leave them nor forsake them (Heb 13.5). No man is able to pluck them from his hand (Jn 10.28). But it would be great if they were doing the work of preaching the gospel and teaching others how to preach it instead of labouring for the meat that perishes (Jn 6.27). Christ pays wages to them that reap in His harvest (Jn 4.36). We could then turn our world right-side up and speed Christ's return to take us to be with him forever (See IMAGINE and Brotherhood on www.preach-the-gospel.org).
By telling the good news in person with our mouths we spread the mystery of Christ, creating botherhood from sea to shining sea. Wouldn't it be great to have love in place of the hatred now existing in our nation. This can happen only through the mystery of the gospel on our lips (See IMAGINE on www.preach-the-gospel.org.).
Please read a one-page paper each day on www.preach-the-gospel.org. This will encourage you to preach the gospel and teach others how to preach it (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20).
