Dear Nick,

Thanks for sending your reports. I have a comment about Colossians 2:8, “Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.” Doesn't the 'plan of salvation' man has devised fall into this category? Christ never said present the 'plan of salvation' or lead another to Himself. He commands us to preach the gospel (Mk 16.15) and let it save them that believe (Rom 1.16 & 10.14), but before we can preach it we must first define what the gospel is. Paul did a great job of this -
"Moreover brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; by which also you are saved if you keep in memory what I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And he was buried, and he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Cor 15.1-4)."

The gospel that the Apostle Paul himself received and preached (v 3-4) is simply - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day." By first asking another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.) we can tell it to them, giving them the chance to believe on Christ and be born of God (1 Cor 1.21 & 4.15 and 1 Jn 5.1). Why is it so hard for christians to understand this and begin preaching the gospel? It's because they have been "captured with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that comes from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ (Col 2.8)." The 'plan of salvation' is a little leaven that has leavened the whole lump (Gal 5.9 & Mt 16.6&12).

Why not begin preaching the gospel according to the scriptures (v 3-4) and teaching them that believe to preach it? For what matters most is a new creature (Gal 6.15-16 & 1 Cor 4.15). We catchem, God cleansem (Rom 2.4b & Phil 1.6). God bless.

Subject: "Fatal Attractions" (Report 20110908)

Thanks for your prayers! They are accomplishing much! Here is the report:

WARNING: Be advised that some of the below information may contain strong sexual content and may not be suitable for younger children. The majority of this information comes directly from the Bible and great effort is made to discuss this material in a godly, respectable manner but it can be very candid at times.

1. Prison Ministry (Sexual Integrity Class) - Every Man's Battle (EMB) - Fridays:

Sandy and I have been ministering to a young man (Z) in the prison about the power and effect of soul ties. Particularly, soul ties that are established through sinful sex which lead to destruction, of some sort. Since his confinement, Z is still 'attached and bound' to a woman who happened to be married to another man. We've proceeded slowly and explained that soul ties can be defined as a psychological or emotional attachment or dependency, or a captivation of one's will, intellect, & emotions (soul). We conveyed that there are good soul ties and there are bad soul ties, and that sex is a primary means of establishing soul ties. Consequently, proper marital sex is the primary means of establishing godly, healthy soul ties, and sinful sex is the primary means of establishing ungodly, unhealthy soul ties.

We discussed with Z just four indicators of ungodly soul ties and how they can be fatal:

With each step, Z paused, identified, and reflected. Realization began to slowly dawn on him that, to a large degree, he had compromised and destroyed his will, intellect, and emotions (his soul) in this relationship and that he had been manipulated. Yet, in the next breath, he confessed that he still loved her and felt 'bound' to her. Proverbs 6:32 says “Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does it destroys (murders) his own soul.”

Pray for these men to receive healing and deliverance in their souls. Also, please pray that I receive wisdom and assistance in producing this information into 5-6 one-hour sessions for seminars on godly sexual integrity. I'm certain this information would be beneficial to many in DVD and audio format.

2. Engage - Saturdays:

Recently, we examined Colossians 2:8. “Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.” Some quick points: 1) This is a warning, 2) It's a warning to Believers, and 3) Believers can be captured. Captured by what? Any ideas or messages - all forms of communication - that DO NOT come from God, but rather from humanistic thinking or traditions.

God has given us five natural senses - sight, smell, taste, hear, and feel. Basically and fundamentally, these five senses are for receiving communications, or messages. For example, if you closed your eyes and just listened to your surroundings you would, perhaps, hear a car driving by, or a radio, or a TV. Maybe, with your eyes still closed, you would smell bread baking in the oven or the baby's diaper needs to be changed. My point is that we are constantly receiving communications that are filtered through our senses and send messages to our brain.

Why is this important? Because, if everything is a message, i.e. books, movies, songs, commercials, conversations, thoughts, ideas, teachings, etc., then for Believers it is paramount that we learn and discern in all things to ask, “What's the message?” Not everything we hear, see, smell, taste, and feel is true or good. I'd venture to say that, today, the vast majority of what we're exposed to - what we receive, or catch - is not godly and is, therefore, a lie. We can be easily captured by lies like, “All religions are equal and the same, all paths lead to heaven, God made me this way, same-sex marriage is ok, premarital sex is ok, masturbation is ok, abortion is ok, I'm basically a good person, there is no such thing as sin or hell, there is no god, we create our own belief system…” and on and on.

Jesus said in Luke 12:54-57 “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'A shower is coming,' and so it turns out. (vs.55) "And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, 'It will be a hot day,' and it turns out that way. (vs.56) "You hypocrites! You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why do you not analyze this present time? (vs.57) "And why do you not even on your own initiative judge what is right?”

Failing to discern, or see, or understand things properly can have dire consequences. Adam, before the fall, did not properly see the consequences of his disobedience. Samson failed to see the fatal attraction in Delilah. Paul, before his conversion, thought he was doing the will of God by persecuting and killing Christians. What about us? Those relationships we should've never gotten into, that thing I regret saying, that thing I regret doing… all because I couldn't see properly.

To illustrate, I passed around a pair of prank, thick goggles. I asked everyone to try them on to and asked if they could still see clearly. Of course not. My point was, “How many situations have we had thick goggles on and, consequently, failed to see things properly?” Ungodly communications/messages can lead to confusion and, ultimately, our capture. We are to be captured by Christ only. 1Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Do you see clearly?

3. Prison - Brig Christian Fellowship (BCF) - Wednesdays:

Again, with the transfer of a majority of prisoners we are in a rebuilding stage. We've had approximately 5-6 new attendees. One of them professes to be an atheist and another said he was agnostic. The atheist was very critical but he is open to dialogue. He also shared his doubts about modern-day prophets and prophecy. I shared a powerful incident and asked him to explain it:

About two years ago, Sandy and I went into the prison Special Quarters (Segregation) to visit a Muslim man named C. C was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 6-year-old daughter and was pending transfer. As we peered through the 4"x10" slit on the steel door, I told C, “A few days ago I had a very graphic vision of you. 'Truth' came to you and stood right in front of you. When 'Truth' came, you knew it was the 'Truth' and you embraced it. This 'Truth' was so real to you that you immediately rejected everything else - the teachings of Islam.” (C was looking directly at me through the slit and listening intently.) I continued, “When 'Truth' came to you, you were reading the Bible." C said, "Pastor Nick, I am reading the Bible right now.” (We could see an open Bible on his desk in his cell.) I continued, “In this vision you were reading the book of John." C's mouth dropped open and he excitedly said, “I am reading the book of John right now!" I proceeded, “You were reading chapter four." C bursted out, "I just finished chapter three! I am in chapter four right now!" I told C, "'Truth' came to you when you read verse 22 where Jesus said 'Salvation comes through the Jews.' God's gift of salvation came through the Jews!" The three of us remained very still for a few moments as realization of what just happened settled in more and more. C became undone and began pacing his cell and crying out, “This is too strong! This is too powerful! There's no way you knew I was reading the Bible! Or the book of John! Or chapter four!" At times, C held his head down in his arms to hide his tears, but he kept saying, “This is too strong! This is too powerful! There's no way you knew!”

The young atheist was silent and offered no explanation. He was visibly stunned. I told the group that the prophetic word is alive today and that God still uses people to deliver on-time, relevant, life-changing messages.

Saints, we continue to covet your prayers and ask for your financial support. Much powerful, life-changing ministry occurs weekly. Please consider sowing in faith in support of these ministries. Also, we still have a need for the following:
