"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15)."

Today I saw a church on the other side of the fence from Yokota AFB, Japan. It got me thinking about how many people a church can reach with the gospel of Jesus Christ without going beyond its church doors.

I don't consider a church to be a church unless it is preaching the gospel in the world as Christ commands (Mk. 16.15). It stands to reason that we can't reach seven billion people (Mt. 24.14 & Mk. 16.15) by simply having church (See DO THE MATH on We must preach the gospel outside the church doors!

Christ says - "Where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them (Mt. 18.20)." In my name means for his names sake which means preaching the gospel. It only takes two or three persons to make up a church if they are preaching the gospel and teaching others two preach it (See TWO OR THREE on Since most churches don't go beyond their church walls this is not happening. This makes for lots of social clubs parading themselves as churches (See CHURCH OR SOCIAL CLUB? on

One person (Christ in them makes two.) faithfully preaching the gospel and teaching others to preach it is a powerful church planter. The concept of starting congregations and sending them out solely to get others to come to church is insane (See INSANITY on There are about 100 people in an average size church but there are seven billion who we must preach the gospel to. It all starts with knowing what the gospel is, something the so-called churches are not teaching their congregations.

This is the problem. Evangelicals have replaced the gospel with their 'plan of salvation' that can only be preached from the pulpit (See PLAN OF SALVATION on and the Catholics don't think the gospel has to be spoken. St. Francis of Assisi said, "Preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15). If necessary, use words." In other words preach it through our actions. This sounds good but the only way to beget a new creature is through preaching the gospel (1 Cor. 4.15b). The Apostle Paul wrote, "Pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel (Eph. 6.19)."

Paul defined the gospel as - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor. 15.3-4)." He wrote that he is not ashamed of the gospel for it is God's power to save everyone that believes when we preach it to them in person with our mouth (Rom. 10.14-15, 1 Cor. 1.21 & 4.15 and Eph. 6.19-20). He laboured more at preaching the gospel than them all (1 Cor. 15.10). To preach this same gospel Paul received and preached (1 Cor.15.3-4) simply ask another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.) and tell it to them.

The idea of planting churches without preaching the gospel in the world is insane, but this is exactly what the so-called church is doing. We must - "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk. 16.15)." teaching them to preach the gospel as well (Mt 28.20).
