The other night we told the good news to a couple teenage girls at the Old Town car show. They asked us if we know about Calvary church in Kissimmee. I told them that we don't go to church, that we just preach the gospel. A better answer would have been to tell them the we are a church.
It only takes two or three people preaching the gospel and teaching others to preach the gospel to make a church. On the other hand a congregation of 50,000 people that are not preaching the gospel outside the doors of their building are at best a social club. At worst they are serpents, generation of vipers, hypocrites, children of the devil, fools and blind (Mt 23.13-33). For Christ commands us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, not present a 'plan of salvation' from behind a podium (See PLAN OF SALVATION on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). Everybody needs their social and self-esteem needs met (See Maslows Hierarchy of Needs on the search engine.). But I am not going to give a tenth of my income to a social club or worse yet, a den of vipers.
The tithe is for the furtherance of the gospel. Wipha and I use God's tithe to support us in preaching the gospel. It pays for our gas and other minor things associated with preaching the gospel. Christ pays wages to them that reap in his harvest and he has told Uncle Sam to pay us to preach the gospel (See MY TESTIMONY on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). God is no respector of person and he will do the same for anyone who seeks first the kingdom of God by preaching the gospel and teachoing them that believe to preach it (See NEED WORK? on www.preach-the-gospel.org.).
The gospel is easily preached by asking another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.) and telling them - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." This gospel that the Apostle Paul himself received and preached does not return void (Is 55.11). It is God's power to save every one that believes on his Son when we preach it to them in person with our mouth (Rom 1.16, Jn 6.47 & Acts 16.31 and Eph 6.19-20 & Col 4.3-4).
Are you a church or do you belong to one? Ask yourself if you are preaching the gospel as you go and teaching them that believe to preach it. If not you can start today by preaching the gospel to another and teaching them to preach the gospel. In so doing you have started a thriving church (Mt 18.20). God bless.
