MY TESTIMONY

I'm writing this to encourage believers to preach the gospel, for it is Christ's testimony (the gospel) on our lips that saves another (Please see SAVED! on www.preach-the-gospel.org for a definition of 'saved'.).

Somebody first told me the good news (gospel) in 1972 after a Led Zeppelin concert in Tampa Florida. I was walking out of the parking after the concert finished and a few teenagers approached me and told me about Jesus. They gave me a ride home and invited me to Hillsborough State Park the next day. I went with them and attended their church on Sunday, but never went again. Russell Keller, the boy who told me the good news, gave me a Living Bible with his name engraved on the front of it, which I kept for many years but never read it. Neverthless the gospel seed was sown in my heart when I believed on Christ after they told me the good news and I was saved (See 47 PASSAGES ON BELIEF on www.preach-the-gospel.org.).

Six years later I attended a chapel service on the missile base I was stationed at in Wackernheim, Germany. The preached Word of God amazed me so much that I invited my little buddy Glen to go with me the next Sunday to check it out. This was a sure sign I was saved, for the natural (unsaved) man does not receive or understand the things of the Spirit of God (see 1 Cor 1.15). I left the Army shortly therafter, quit attending church and drifted backwards into sin, but re-entered the Army eight months later and after a religious experience in 1980 started going to the chapel on Ft Clayton, Panama where I was stationed. This was the start of 30 years of steady church going. After retiring from the military in 1995 somebody sent me a letter asking for help to support an airlift to some Russian orphanages that were being neglected by their government. I contributed $30 and they mailed me a thank-you letter along with a good news bracelet that they were giving to the children along with food, medicine, clothes, and toys. I simplified the bracelet message and began making the bracelets and bracelet papers and preaching it's simple gospel message to others as I gave them away. I could see a vivid transformation occur the instant others believed on Christ after I preached the bracelet message to them (See www.good-newsbracelet.org.). It was amazing! They were being born again, as the scriptures declare, from a worm to a beautiful new creature (1 Cor 1.21, 10.14 & 4.15, 2 Cor 5.17 and 1 Jn 5.1)!

In 2002 I quit my job delivering pizzas at Domino's Pizza and with the aid of the good news bracelet started preaching the gospel full-time. I moved from Aurora, CO to MacDill AFB's FAMCAMP in my hometown of Tampa, FL, preached the gospel as I went, developing good news bracelet papers in Spanish and Korean while living on the FAMCAMP in a four-man tent. About a month or so later I returned to Denver, CO and entered the homeless Veterans program at the Catholic Charities Samaritan House in downtown Denver and continued making good news bracelets and preaching it's simple gospel message as I gave them away. Somebody told me I could receive 100% disability pay from the Veterans Administration (VA) for one year as a homeless vet so I applied and for it and soon received a letter informing me that I was approved for 100% disabiliy permanently. Later somebody told me that because I am a 100% permanently disabled veteran I was eligible for Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), so I walked down to the Social Security office and applied for it. Shortly thereafter I was awarded SSDI. Woohoo! I was 47 years old and completely retired! Only two or three months after preaching the gospel full time my income quadrupled! (God told Uncle Sam to pay me to tell the good news!) He will do the same for you if you tell the good news for he is no respecter of persons (Acts 10.34 & Rom 2.11)(See NEED WORK? on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). Next I took a military hop to Korea to preach the gospel, passing through Japan and Okinawa, I had the bracelet paper translated into Japanese and soon found myself in Thailand with a friend I made (Bill) in Okinawa. There I met my wife and we started the Good News Church teaching children to preach the gospel and make bracelets. We made 50 each day, preaching it's simple message as we gave them away, begetting many new creatures in the process 1 Cor 4.15b).

After telling the good news full time with the bracelet for 10 years I came across a bible passage that changed the way we preach the gospel. Did you know that the Apostle Paul clearly defines the gospel in his first letter to the Corinthian believers as - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (Read 1 Cor 15.1-4)."? It took me 12 seconds to preach the gospel with the good news bracelet, but only three seconds with this same gospel the Apostle Paul himself received and preached and I get the same results as he did (1 Cor 4.15). Now we tell the good news and give others a business card that says, "Did you hear the good news? "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.1-4)." to teach them to tell it. The card also contains www.preach-the-gospel.org, with over 150 one-page papers, good news reports and letters I have written over the years to teach and encourage others to preach the gospel. We also e-mail a weekly Good News Report to our friends and family to encourage them to preach the gospel. Please send us your e-mail address if you would like receive our report. With the help of our friends and family's prayers (Eph 6.19) my wife and I continue to boldly tell the good news (preach the gospel) and teach others to do the same. In so doing we are going to turn our nation right-side up in less than three years (Please read IMAGINE and CAPTAIN AMERICA on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). God is able (Eph 3.20)!

I hope my testimony challenges and encourages you to preach the gospel and teach others to preach it (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20). God bless, Harry
