There is much talk and confusion about the signs of the end and the whole issue surrounding it. Recently people have foretold the day, but they were wrong as usual.(Mt 24.36)Read on and I will attempt to encourage your heart with some positive words about the second coming of Christ.
Many point to the signs of the times as indications of the end, but they don't say what the end is. The end is something for believers to look forward to with great anticipation and even pray for.(Mt 6.10&Lk 10.2)It is something that we also should work towards. Christ left it in our hands to preach the gospel after he rose from the grave on the third day. One of the last commandandments he made commandments to his apostles before ascending into heaven is - "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."(Mk16.15)"Teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you".(Mt 28.20)
We are told by Christ that, "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then shall the end come".(Mt 24.14) and Christ will return and take us to be with him forever.(Mt 24.30-31and1 Thes 4.13-18)The gospel must be preached to fulfill Christ's command(Mk 16.15)before the end comes. I assume that this is because he wants everybody to have the chance to believe on Him and be saved. But it takes our obedience to his commands(Mk 16.15&Mt 28.20)to make this come to pass.
When we tell the good news (Gospel means good news.) to another it gives them the opportunity to believe on Christ and be born into God's kingdom or family (See 47 PASSAGES ON BELIEF that show that a person is saved by believing on Christ and SAVED for a definition of 'saved' on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). In so doing we speed the return of Christ and turn the world right-side up (See TURN THE WORLD RIGHT SIDE UP on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). What greater purpose can there be than to preach the gospel and teach others to preach it! Christ says - "Labour not for the meat that perishes, but for that meat which endures to everlasting life".(Jn 6.27)
To preach the gospel to another simply ask them if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.), then tell them - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day."(1 Cor 15.1-4)This is the gospel that the Apostle Paul himself received and preached (v 3) and it saves every one that believes when we preach it to them in person with our mouth.(Rom 1.16,1 Cor 1.21,Eph 6.19&Col 4.3-4)Christ pays wages to them that reap in His harvest(Jn 4.36)and He will bring His reward with him to give every man according as his work shall be.(Mt 16.27,Jn 5.28-29&Rev 22.12)
This gospel shall be be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations, then the end will come and Christ will return and take us to be with him forever.(Mt 24.14 & 30-31and1 Thes 4.13-18)Let's look for (and work towards) that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.(Tit 2.13)
Please read a one-page paper daily on www.preach-the-gospel.org. It will encourage your heart to preach the gospel and to teach others to do so.(Mk 16.15&Mt 28.20)
