"How many people did you preach the gospel to today, or teach to preach the gospel?" This should be a question often asked amongst believers. For when the gospel has been preached to every person in every nation the end will come and Christ will return and take us to be with him forever (Mt 24.14 & 30-31, 1 Cor 15.22-24 & 1 Thes 4.13-18).
But Christians have become tight-lipped. This is because the gospel has been replaced by man's 'plan of salvation' whereby a person must say a prayer to be saved (See THE SINNER'S PRAYER on www.preach-the-gospel.org). But Christ's command is "Preach the gospel." not present the 'plan of salvation'. Christians don't know what the gospel is so they can't preach it. God's plan of salvation is simple - "Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me has everlasting life (Jn 6.47 & Acts 16.31)." But how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher (Rom 10.14)?"
To preach the gospel simply ask another if they have heard the good news (gospel) and say - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." This is the gospel according to the scriptures that the apostle Paul himself received and preached (See 1 Cor 15.1-4). When we preach it to others in person with our mouth (See SPEAK UP! on www.preach-the-gospel.org) it saves them that believe on Christ (Jn 3.36 & 6.47, Acts 16.31, Mk 16.15, Romans 1.16 & 10.14 and 1 Cor 1.21 & 4.15). Man's 'plan of salvation' adds that a person must admit to God that they are a sinner, ask Him to forgive them and ask Christ to come into their heart. This little leavens removes the simpliciy from the gospel (Gal 5.9). This is the reason for so many tight-lipped christians.
Because the gospel isn't being preached as it ought to be sin abounds in our nation and world. The Apostle Paul wrote, "Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you than that we preached to you let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel to you than that you have received, let him be accursed (Galatians 1.6-9)." And Christ warns - "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees (speaking of their doctrine, Mt 16.6 & 12).
Now we know what the gospel is and how to preach it so we don't have to be tight-lipped christians any longer We can ask others if they have heard the good news and preach - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." teaching them that believe to also preach the gospel (See TWO OR THREE on www.preach-the-gospel.org)
