MAKE THE TREE GOOD

"A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit (Mt 7.18)..."

When God saves a person they in essence become a good tree and they bring forth good fruit, "For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; Eph 5.9."

Why then do we have so much evil in our society today? "The works of the flesh are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcrsaft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like...(Gal 5.19-21)." These are the things which destroy a person, a family, a nation. There is no good thing in our flesh (Rom 7.18). But if we walk in the Spirit we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Gal 5.16). To walk in the Spirit we must be a good tree.

How do we make the tree good? We can't of ourselves do it because it is by grace we are saved and not of ourselves. It is the gift of God (Eph 2.8). The only thing we can do to be saved is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16.31, Jn 6.47). Belief is the same as faith so to believe in means to have faith or trust in something or somebody. Believing on Christ means that we place our faith in him or trust him. The moment we do this we are born again or saved and become a good tree that brings forth good fruit.

In addition to being a good tree ourself we want others to be good trees so they too will bring forth good fruit. We want the lives of others to produce love, which will have a tremendous effect for good on others and on our society. Love is one of the fruits of the Spirit, but consider the others: joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance; against such is no law. Think about all the criminals in our nation and the many jails needed to confine them. We could tear down these jails if we had good trees instead of corrupt ones.

If people would do one simple thing we could turn corrupt trees into good trees. I hope I'm writing to good trees because if not you could care less. All this is foolishness to you (1 Cor 2.14). But to the good trees the one thing we can do to make good trees is tell others that - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (Read 1 Cor 15.1-4.)." by first asking another if they have heard the good news (Gospel means good news.). Thsi gives them the opportunity to believe on Christ and become a good tree. Then we can multiply the fruit by teaching them to preach the gospel as well and to teach others to do so.

Start preaching the gospel today. This will make an enormous difference for good in the lives of others and in our society. Ask the next person who crosses your path if the have heard the good news and tell them "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day." Then teach them to preach the gospel as well and to teach others to preach it. Them that believe will become good trees and bring forth good fruit. Make the tree good!
