WALK THE WALK

The last and most important command Jesus gave his disciples before ascending into heaven was "Go into the entire world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15). Preaching means to utter it with our mouths (Eph 6.19 & Mk 16.15). It is not possible to walk the walk without talking the talk. Let me explain.

Only Christ's testimony on our lips can save a person. A person who thinks they are able to save another person by their witness or testimony is only deceiving themselves. Paul wrote, “We preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus (2 Cor 4.5).” Christ's testimony (the gospel) is - “He died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4).” When we preach this to another in person with our mouth and they believe on Christ, God saves them (Eph 6.19-20, Jn 3.36, 6.47 & Acts 16.31). Paul wrote, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto every one that believes (Rom 1.16).”

The gospel alone has the power to save when preached to another for, “It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe (1 Cor 1.21).” But the evangelical church teaches that a person is saved by a sinner's prayer (See THE SINNER'S PRAYER on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). Again, Christ says, "preach the gospel to every creature," but the Sinner's prayer can't be preached. This explains why Christians don't preach the gospel.

The church needs to begin preaching the simple gospel message in our lost world that people might be saved (see SAVED! on www.preach-the-gospel.org for a definition of saved.). Do not be ashamed to tell another - “Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day” or Christ will be ashamed of us. It is the gospel and is the power of God to save every one that believes (Rom 1.16). “If we confess him before men he will confess us before his Father in heaven, but if we deny him before men he will also deny us before his Father in heaven (Mt 10.32-33)."

Ask the next person who crosses your path if they have heard the good news and tell them - “Christ died for our sins, he was buried and he rose the third day.” Then tell another and another. Try to tell everybody you pass the good news in this manner and you will then be walking the walk. Remember - If we are ashamed of Him he will be ashamed of us. Let's not deceive ourselves into believing that we can walk the walk without talking the talk.
