Have you ever asked yourself the question, "Why Am I Here?" Until recently I didn't know why I am here, but now I am sure of it. I am here to preach the gospel and teach others to preach the gospel.

I attended evangelical church's for 30 years and was never taught what the gospel was nor how to preach it, but I recently found a passage of scripture Paul wrote to the Corinthians believers that defines it: "Moreover brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; by which also you are saved if you keep in memory what I preached to you… I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, he was buried, and he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Cor 15.1-4)."

Preaching this simple gospel message and teaching others how to preach it has become my primary purpose in life, just as it was the Apostle Paul's, for in this lies the salvation of mankind in preparation for Christ's return to take us to be with him forever (Mt 24.14 & 30-31 and 1 Thes 4.13-18). Most people, Christians included, don't know why they are here? Usually it is for self interest, amassing things, comfort, pleasure, family, etc. But the Apostle Paul, who composed 14 of the 27 books of the New Testament wrote, "He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again (2 Cor 5.15)." "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth (Rom 1.16)." "Awake to righteousness and sin not, for some have not the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame (1 Cor 15.34)."

At that time Christ's death, burial and resurrection had recently occurred and every believer was expected to declare the good news (gospel) to others, in obedience to Christ's command (Mk 16.15), that everyone might believe on Him, be born of God and enter into fellowship with them, with God and with His Son Jesus Christ (1 Jn 1.3). King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live wrote, "He that winneth souls is wise (Pr 11.30)." and "Where there is no vision the people perish (Pr 29.18)."

Most Christians are in the dark about the gospel and how to preach it, just as I was. The churches aren't teaching them, neither are the bible schools and seminaries. We have to repair this breach and restore the paths to dwell in (IS 58.12.) by preaching the gospel and teaching others to do so (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20).

Will we live for Him who died for us and rose again, by obeying His commands to preach the gospel and teach others to preach it? This answers the question, "Why am I Here?"
